We all need some help in life.

After the past few years of the pandemic, lockdowns, and harsh political divisions, you find yourself wanting something different. Maybe even something you have difficulty identifying.

You know you want to make some changes, you’re just not sure where to begin.

And you know it would be easier if you had someone on your side to help guide the way.

Real Talk with Jenny is about exploring what you want and figuring out how to get there.

Hi, I’m Jenny Rogers and I really get what it feels like to want change. My path through life has been anything but linear.

I studied sociology in college because I loved learning about people and how some groups differ from others. Unfortunately, there aren’t actual career options for people with a bachelor’s degree in sociology 😀 so I bounced around from various low-paying jobs before I lucked my way into a job with the local unemployment office.

I spent 15 years working there and enjoyed the salary and benefits, but felt completely unfulfilled with the work. It really was drudgery, and a gal can only take so much of that regardless of the pay.

That led me to search for something different. At first, it was a movement practice called Nia, which is barefoot dance fitness with a heavy side of woo that fit me just right. In Nia, I met people who proclaimed the benefits of The Artist’s Way. So of course, I bought the book, gathered a small group of Nia friends, and explored my creative side. This process led me to realize that I could actually make changes in my career despite being middle aged and having that useless bachelor’s degree.

I went back to school, this time getting my Master of Science in Education in Counseling. Since then, I have worked as a counselor in day treatment hospital settings and in a group practice.

Fast forward to 2020. Covid, lockdowns, weird political stuff. Something still didn’t feel right. I wanted another change. I took a big leap of faith and started my own private therapy practice. Which leads us to now.

Still wanting something different from providing straight therapy, still exploring, wanting another change. Making another leap into coaching and helping people explore what they want and figure out how to get there. I focus on simple, practical changes that are realistic and help make your life better.

I look forward to working with you.
